The official website of the Kamchatka Territory reported that bears have become more frequent visitors to settlements in the region. Special services have received over 450 reports of such incidents this season alone. Approximately 30 animals have been eliminated in the past week.

The report notes that the presence of two bears has been recorded in densely populated areas of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Urban District – near Mishennaya Hill and in the SRV area. Efforts are underway to identify and eliminate these predators.

The regional Ministry of Forestry and Hunting has developed a map that will record all cases of bears entering settlements. This is necessary for a more rapid response. Residents of the region are urged to report encounters with bears to the unified dispatch service or by calling 112.

Currently, the administration of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has raised its forces and means of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry to a higher level of readiness. Groups to combat predators have been doubled in size. Over 50 people are involved in this work. The group of hunters has also been increased.
