The press service of the government of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic has announced that a group of enthusiasts from St. Petersburg has installed the world's first climb counter at the summit of Elbrus. This device allows climbers to register each ascent by pressing a special lever. The mechanical clicker enables counting without the use of external tools.

In the first hour after installation, over 20 people pressed the lever. The device is designed to last for 50 years and count up to one million ascents.

The counter is made of stainless steel. Its creators previously developed several prototypes, taking into account all necessary conditions, and conducted temperature tests and microscopic studies.

The counter features a drawing of the solar system, which includes eight planets and the orbit of a ninth planet that astrophysicists are still searching for. Additionally, the device is adorned with a quote from the famous climber Anatoly Bukreev: "You cannot conquer a mountain; you can only be temporarily equal to its height."
