Work on the creation of the Tersky Bereg national park will resume in the Murmansk region, Interfax-tourism reports citing Oleg Sutkaitis, director of the Barents Branch of WWF Russia.
The goal of the project is to save the salmon of the Varzuga River in the Tersk District in the south of the Murmansk Region.
According to the report, settlements will not be included in the park.
At the moment, negotiations are underway with ecologists, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Murmansk Region and the Tourism Committee of the Murmansk Region, as well as with the agricultural fishing cooperative "Shoots of Communism" to determine the boundaries of the national park.
Environmentalists have previously stated the value of the Varzuga River, which is home to the Red Book species that are under threat of extinction due to illegal activities of poachers.
