The international action "Garden of Remembrance" will be held as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory over fascism. As EcoTourism Expert became aware, 27 million trees will be planted in Russia and in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States in memory of 27 million dead during the Great Patriotic War.

Anyone who wants to join the action is initiated by the All-Russian Volunteer Movement “Victory Volunteers” and the Victory Commemoration Fund.  Information about the campaign will be available in the near future on the forums of the cities and regions of Russia, according to the organizers. They said that it’s also possible to join those who will take care of the seedlings, honouring the memory of the dead for future generations.

The initiative will be launched on March 18 in hero cities - St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Volgograd, Moscow, Kerch, Novorossiysk, Tula, Murmansk, Smolensk. It is expected that seedlings will be planted at 10 thousand different sites. The organizers are sure that at least 2.5-3 million citizens and 25 thousand Victory Volunteers will take part in the move.

The initiative will end on June 22.

The co-organizers of the “Garden of Remembrance” are the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the Federal Forestry Agency.
