The press service of the "Land of the Leopard" national park reported on the results of the international meeting between Russia and China on transboundary territories. During the meeting of the working group, new agreements were reached in the field of wildlife conservation.
Experts from the two countries discussed the development of national parks and reserves in border regions, exchanged information on measures to conserve the Amur tiger, the Far Eastern leopard, and other rare animals.
"The parties agreed to continue developing the project to restore the population of the red-faced ibis, which has long since disappeared in Russia. These rare birds have been successfully preserved in China, and in the future, some individuals may be donated to Russian specialists for further breeding," the statement says.
The experts also discussed the creation of the transboundary reserve "Ussuri Estuary" and agreed to further develop cooperation in the border protected areas of Russia and China.
In addition, work will be intensified in the organization of joint patrolling and monitoring of the state of ecosystems, as well as in the field of scientific research, environmental education, ecotourism and other areas. For this, it is planned to exchange information and hold thematic seminars.
The outcome of the meeting was the protocol of the 18th meeting of the Working Group on transboundary protected areas and biodiversity conservation.
