Now international environmental certificates "Blue Flag" in Sochi have 33 beaches. In accordance with the requirements, they support the basics of environmental education, the issue of separate waste collection has been worked out, and additional environmental water samples are being carried out by Rospotrebnadzor. It is planned that in 2022 the Blue Flag will be awarded to 35 Sochi beach areas.

"One of these territories will be determined for the arrangement of the first eco-beach in Sochi. It is planned to install beach equipment made of recycled plastic, equip a “smart” shower with an automatic system for economical water consumption, use solar panels, shade canopies, the fabric of which can be recycled," the Sochi administration said.

It is assumed that this practice will gradually begin to apply on the other beaches of Sochi. Almost 200 beach areas were available at the resort last summer season
