The unique exposition of the Olkhon Ice Fest ice sculpture will be open on February 15 – March 15 on the island of Olkhon on Lake Baikal. As reported on the festival's VK page, international-level craftsmen from all over Russia will present their creations on a one-kilometer-long site.

"Olkhon Ice Park is the only interactive park of monumental ice sculpture in Russia, created using the technology of ice plastics. Here, throughout 1 kilometer of the shoreline of Lake Baikal, characters from ancient fairy tales and legends of the northern peoples of the world come to life from the ice of frozen waves," the festival website says.

According to the organizers, ice plastics is a technology for creating sculptures from splashes formed as a result of icing drops of waves crashing on the shore. Craftsmen work with a single piece of icy rock, carving images of future ice sculptures from it, which become an extension of the landscape.

The park is open to all visitors and admission is free.

According to the organizers of the festival, Olkhon Island on Lake Baikal is among the Top 10 most desirable places to travel among Russian and foreign tourists. Since 2020, ice art festivals and stages of the World Ice Sculpture Championship have been held here, attracting tens of thousands of people from all over the world.

"Olkhon is ideally suited for the direction of ice plastics. There are not many places in the world accessible to the mass visitor where it is possible to create such works. Therefore, our goal is to make Olkhon Island the world center of ice art with its unique landscapes and unique style of work," the festival website says.
