While the railway to the resort is laid along the coast.

«We are now discussing projects until 2030, and Moscow-South is present there. The existing branch along the sea, although it has become the hallmark of the coast, has a number of significant drawbacks. From the point of view of ecology, this is not the best solution, plus bank protection works are constantly required, and there is a high risk of mudflows. We have already seen that once two bridges were washed away, as well as railway and road, and it was not possible to pass by. The issue, as usual, is funding,» said Oleg Belozerov.

The head of Russian Railways noted that the project is complex and expensive. More than 60% of the new route consists of bridges and tunnels. The head of Russian Railways specified that the project is estimated at 1-1.3 trillion rubles. The construction of a new railway in Sochi may begin before 2030.
