A nationwide festival dedicated to the writer, actor, and director Vasily Shukshin will take place in the Altai region from July 23 to 27. According to the organizers, guests from all over the country attend this event. Among them are well-known actors, musicians, and writers—those who knew Shukshin personally or whose lives were influenced by his work. This was reported by the Altai region's tourism portal VisitAltai.

"The most prominent event of Shukshin Days is the film festival. Competing films are showcased in the regional capital and in the towns and villages where renowned festival guests hold creative meetings. At the same time, themed exhibitions, concert and museum programs, performances based on Shukshin's prose, and presentations of new books about him are also held," the message states.

The festival program also includes folk celebrations. In Shukshin's hometown of Srostki, mini-festivals take place at the memorial museum-reserve named after him, including a folklore festival, a bard concert, and amateur theater performances. During Shukshin Days, participants hike up Mount Pikette above Srostki, where a large monument to the writer stands. An artistic program is held there, concluding with a screening of the winning film of the Shukshin film festival and a gala concert.

The portal notes that Shukshin Days in Altai was recognized as the best cultural tourist event in 2017. At the final of the National Event Tourism Awards, the festival won first place.
