Scientists at the Sirius University of Science and Technology will assess the water quality of the Mzymta, Sochi, Khosta, and Kudepsta rivers. The study will examine the impact of seasonal variations in the flow of medium and small rivers in the resort area on the ecological state of coastal waters. The researchers will determine the chemical composition of the water and identify the sources of pollution. The study will also involve examining archival scientific protocols on water quality assessments over the past 30-40 years. Additionally, scientists will analyze the influence of climatic factors on the hydrochemical regime of rivers in the Krasnodar Territory.
"Scientists will thoroughly study the factors affecting the chemical composition of medium and small rivers in Greater Sochi, as water pollution is not always associated with wastewater discharges. River water can leach hazardous substances of natural origin from rocks and transport them over large areas," noted the press service of Sirius University of Science and Technology.
A full-scale study of the macro and microcomponent composition of river waters in Sochi and the federal territory of Sirius will last two years.
