The American website World Population Review, based on data from the World Tourism Organization, estimated which countries of the world are the least visited by tourists.
Interestingly, Liechtenstein, a tiny principality with a population of only about 40,000 people, located in a picturesque Alpine landscape between Switzerland and Austria, turned out to be anti-rated.
And this is despite the fact that Liechtenstein is dotted with numerous hiking trails, dreamy views of the Rhine Valley, medieval castles and offers many cultural attractions.
Kiribati took the first place in the list of the least visited countries by tourists in the World Population Review, followed by Bhutan, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Liechtenstein, Cook Islands, Burkina Faso and Angola. There are many reasons why some countries are less interesting to tourists than others. Some are banally difficult to access, in some island states holidays are much more expensive due to their isolation, others are still underdeveloped in terms of tourism and do not have a large number of attractions. Finally, some of the countries are inaccessible due to political instability or military action.
