Old Ryazan Hillfort to Become the Site of a Large-Scale Festival

The press service of the regional ministry of culture has announced that on July 20, the festival "Old Ryazan - a place of traditions, a place of glory, a place of power" will be held on the Old Ryazan hillfort. The program includes performances by folk groups, a fair of folk crafts, an exhibition of works of the art competition, round dances and games.

"The tasks of the event are to preserve and popularize cultural heritage sites, create conditions for the development of inbound and event tourism, form a brand of the place, attract the artistic community and the general public, and create a new center of attraction in Russia," the message says.

Old Ryazan is located in the Spassky District of the Ryazan Region on the banks of the Oka River and is one of the oldest and largest hillforts in Russia. In the XII-XIII centuries, the city was the capital of the Great Ryazan Principality,as well as its economic and cultural center.

Now the hillfort will open a window into the past, and a bright cultural atmosphere will be created on its territory for the guests of the holiday. The event will be attended by singer Pyotr Nalich, Honored Artist of Russia Alexei Zardinov, the State Street Theater of Cardboard and several other theaters from different regions of the country.
