On July 13, during the "Archipelago 2024" project educational intensive, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) presented findings from its annual domestic tourism study, conducted in collaboration with B1 Group. Olga Zakharova, director of ASI's Urban Economy Division, highlighted that the report illustrates the growth of internal tourism, with 77% of respondents expressing satisfaction with their travels within Russia.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, emphasized the importance of feedback for the effective implementation of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry." He noted the approval of the 2035 Roadmap for Automotive Tourism, reflecting a growing interest among families traveling by car.

The study indicates a significant increase in the desire to explore new regions, with notable interest in the Arctic, Siberia, and the Far East. In 2023, 17% of Russians planned a trip to the Far East; this figure rose to 29% in 2024. Additionally, satisfaction with service quality has improved, with 62% of respondents stating their experiences met or exceeded expectations.

Investment in tourism infrastructure remains vital, with around 100 billion rubles allocated for industry support. The report highlights a growing preference for domestic sightseeing (40%) and a rise in air travel (from 28% to 47% in a year).

Experts agree that enhancing transport infrastructure is essential for continued growth in the sector, while recent events like the "Russia" exhibition at VDNH in Moscow have sparked interest in the country’s diverse regions.

The findings provide valuable insights for businesses and government, suggesting avenues for further development in the rapidly evolving landscape of Russian domestic tourism.
