Moscow's official city website has announced that VDNKh will be one of the main venues for celebrating World Tourism Day on September 27. This holiday was established to promote travel, assess the industry's contribution to economic development, and foster connections between cities and countries worldwide.
VDNKh's museums will host a variety of themed events. The "Cosmonautics and Aviation" center will offer visitors a fascinating glimpse into "Space Moscow." A free guided tour will delve into the history of space exploration and flight preparation, with a special focus on the iconic Pavilion No. 34 "Cosmos."
At the "Word" Museum of Slavic Writing, visitors can embark on a journey through the history of travel across different eras and learn about the evolution of the travelogue genre. The free tour "Who in Russia Likes to Travel?" will explore classic works such as Afanasy Nikitin's "Journey Beyond Three Seas" and Alexander Radishchev's "Journey from Saint Petersburg to Moscow."
Additionally, VDNKh will host a football tournament where participants will compete for the Moscow Tourism Cup. All participants will receive prizes. Winners will be awarded a large trophy and gold medals, while runners-up will receive smaller trophies and silver or bronze medals. The team that finishes last will receive a consolation prize: the Cup of Hope.
Celebrations will also take place at other venues across Moscow, including Zaryadye Park and the North and South River Terminals. Tourist information centers will offer a festive quiz about tourism in various Russian cities, with memorable souvenirs as prizes for winners.
