The Gubakha ski resort in Perm Krai is undergoing expansion to become a year-round mountain resort. VTB Bank will provide a 1.6 billion ruble loan under a preferential lending program for the project, according to the Tourism.RF Corporation website.
"As part of the national project 'Tourism and Hospitality Industry', it is planned to scale up the Gubakha ski resort to the level of a year-round mountain resort," the statement reads.
The loan will be used to create tourist and recreational infrastructure. A three-star hotel and duplex cottages are planned to be built, bringing the total number of rooms to 120. The project also includes the creation of a multifunctional ski and recreation complex with a chairlift, training slope, snowboard hill, ice rink, rental services, and a spa. A themed complex with zip lines, a rafting route, and a rope park is also planned.
"Tourism.RF" is providing support to the investor in terms of building tourist infrastructure and co-financing.
At the end of 2022, Perm Krai and the Russian Ministry of Construction signed an agreement to provide a 934 million ruble subsidy from the federal budget for the construction of infrastructure for a year-round resort in Gubakha. This amount will be used to build new roads, two gas pipelines, water supply systems, and other facilities.
As reported by the corporation, design and survey work has already been completed in the territory of the future resort,and the documentation has been sent to the Main State Expertise of Russia. Currently, work is underway on the construction of transport infrastructure, parking spaces have been created, and outdoor lighting has been installed.
The construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. The new tourist facilities will allow increasing the number of visitors to the resort to 450,000 people.
