The Russian payment system "Mir" has started operating in Myanmar. The opportunity to pay with "Mir" cards has become available in some restaurants and shopping centers.

As reported by the Russian embassy in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, payment can be made using POS terminals from Myawaddy bank. The official presentation and announcement of the launch of the Russian payment system's card operation in Myanmar are planned for August.

Russian tourists can visit this Southeast Asian state without a visa. The pilot project to exempt citizens of Russia from visa formalities when entering Myanmar for business and tourism purposes has been extended until June 30, 2025. The duration of visa-free stay in the country is 30 days.

In September of this year, according to plans announced earlier by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Moscow plans to sign an agreement with Myanmar to abolish visas.

According to data from the country's hotel and tourism ministry, in 2023, Myanmar was visited by 1.28 million foreign tourists, including over 3,000 Russians. In September of last year, the two countries resumed air traffic after a 30-year break.

Untouched by mass tourism, former Burma can offer tourists authentic Asia without crowds of tourists, but with wonderful architecture, snow-white beaches, and breathtaking landscapes..
