Meteorologists warn that smoke may reach Sydney

Meteorologists warn that a cloud of smoke caused by fires in Australia could reach Sydney on Tuesday. About 130 fires have been raging in the Australian state of New South Wales. Fire spreads due to hot and dry weather. More than 20,000 hectares are burned in this state.

Another fire occurred south of the Katoomba and Leura area of Blue Mountains. More than 390 hectares of forest is burning there.

An emergency warning has been introduced in Currowan, north of Batemans Bay. The fire there spread over 11,500 hectares. State fire services have not yet managed to take control of the situation.

In the state of Queensland over the weekend, a fire swept over an area of ​​7.5 thousand hectares.

State residents in Narangba, north of Brisbane, are strongly advised to leave the area.

The residents of the southern regions of the state are in a particularly difficult situation, there are about 50 fires that are currently recorded. According to forecasts of meteorologists, in the near future there will be no rain, and the temperature can rise up to 40 degrees Celsius. In this regard, the Queensland Fire and Rescue Services (QFES) advises residents to stay alert and be prepared to leave their homes when the situation worsens.

According to official figures, since July this year in New South Wales, fires have burned about 2 million hectares of land. More than 7,000 fires were recorded that spread throughout the state. Six people were killed, 673 houses were burned, and1,400 other buildings were destroyed by fire.
