Based on the results of the European Birdwatching Days, residents of Hungary have been recognized as the best ornithologists in Europe. This international program, held for the 32nd year in a row, involves both individual observers and professional ornithological organizations.

This year, 24,614 observers from 36 European countries participated in the event under the auspices of BirdLife, an organization dedicated to bird conservation. A total of 984 birdwatching sites were set up. As a result, the behavior of over 3.5 million birds was tracked.

Ornithologists from Hungary showed the greatest activity in this year's campaign. They created 195 sites for the event, the largest number among all participating countries. In terms of the number of observers involved (4,120 people), Hungary was second only to Greece. And the number of bird species recorded by Hungarian observers reached 196,597, which was the fourth best result.

It is worth noting that Hungarian ornithologists have been demonstrating such high results annually in unofficial birdwatching competitions, rightfully earning the title of the best ornithologists in Europe.
