The Yalta mountain forest reserve will close several hiking trails due to floods. Andrey Borodin, director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Zapovedny Crimea, announced this on Radio Crimea.
Now the following tourist trails are temporarily closed for visiting: Botkin and Shtangeevskaya trails, Taraktash trail, Koreiz trail, Uch-Kosh, as well as the Yagodka bicycle route.
“There is a lot of water, mudslides and cracks have formed there - this weather has done a lot of troubles. Therefore, we decided to close them for now, since certain actions need to be taken to ensure that it is safe for people to walk there. Somewhere fences were torn down, somewhere it was washed and water is still flowing,” Borodin said.
He advises guests not try to follow these trails. According to the director, mudflows are the most dangerous because they are still in a mobile state. The soil is still wet and you can get stuck on the trail like in a swamp. Another serious danger is gullies up to 4-6 meters.
The reserve workers will still have to restore and clear fire-fighting routes.
