The decision was confirmed by Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 Management.

«I am pleased to confirm that the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix from 2023 will be held at Igora Drive. This was the result of intensive work with our Russian partners and a detailed study of this delightful track. I am impressed by St. Petersburg and am confident that the Russian Grand Prix at Igora Drive will be an amazing event,» said Stefano Domenicali.

The decision to move Formula 1 is in the stage of detailed elaboration. In the next two years, the Grand Prix will take place in Sochi. In 2021, the races will take place on September 24-26. At the same time Sochi-Autodrom will continue to operate after Formula 1's “move” to the Leningrad Region.

Sochi-Autodrom will continue to function not only as a motorsport facility, but will also receive a new round of development. We will be able to approach the issues of using the site differently, since many of the restrictions caused by Formula 1 will be lifted. The Autodrom will be able to hold other motorsport competitions, as the license of the International Motorsport Federation will remain at the same level, - said Director General of ANO "Rosgonka" Alexey Titov.

The Russian stage of Formula 1 has been held in Sochi since 2014.
