The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza has announced that it is beginning to welcome its first visitors before the official opening. Tourists are already offered limited access to the exhibits. They can explore most of the finished premises and see ancient artifacts with their own eyes.
Currently, the main gallery, the grand hall, the commercial zone, and the adjacent gardens are open to visitors. Tourists can also see the six-story grand staircase overlooking the pyramids. The museum is open daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and the ticket office closes at 4:00 PM. The cost of an adult ticket for foreigners will be slightly more than two thousand rubles. The message notes that access to the Tutankhamun galleries will be restricted until the official opening.
The Guardian reports that the official opening date has not yet been announced. During the test mode, the museum will accommodate 4,000 visitors each day. The trial run should help identify overcrowded areas of the museum and other problems.
The Grand Egyptian Museum has been under construction for over a decade. In its galleries and halls, visitors will be able to see several tens of thousands of artifacts from the ancient treasures of Egypt. The museum is equipped with the latest technology. For example, the halls will feature multimedia presentations telling visitors about the life of the ancient Egyptians and their pharaohs.
