The administration of the resort city of Zheleznovodsk has announced the closure of the permafrost cave, a popular tourist attraction. This natural wonder is included in the list of the "Wonders of Stavropol Territory" and is located in the specially protected natural area of the Beshtaugorsky reserve.
The spontaneous recreational load had a negative impact on the natural monument. Tourists melted the unique vegetation around the cave and often littered the area with household waste. In this regard, it was decided to restrict access to the adit.
"To preserve the nature reserve, a set of measures was taken to protect it, and in order to preserve the bat population and prevent pollution of the natural monument, access to the adit of Mount Razvalka was restricted by installing a barrier grate deep in the adit, 20 meters from the entrance," the statement said.
The cave is located on the western slope of Mount Razvalka. It was discovered at the beginning of the last century during the development of the Count's Spring. The temperature inside the grotto is about 8 degrees Celsius. In summer, you can find a welcome coolness in the cave, and in winter, you can warm up. This feature affects the local ecosystem, which is similar to high-mountain nature.
