The press service of the Altai Natural Biosphere Reserve has announced the issuance of an order prohibiting the use of airboats and air-crafts. According to specialists, this type of transport is considered an aggressive source of noise pollution.

The ban applies to visits to all permitted ecological sites within the reserve. Information about the order will now be communicated to the owners of small vessels.

Earlier, regional media reported that anthropogenic pressure from water transport on Lake Teletskoye has increased. Scientists expressed particular concern about the airboat—a type of watercraft powered by an aircraft-type propeller. Conservation experts believe that this transportation is a significant source of noise pollution.

Lake Teletskoye is referred to as the pearl of the Altai Mountains. Part of its waters is located within the Altai Natural Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This protected area ranks among the top reserves in Russia in terms of biodiversity.
