The annual holiday is expected to take place on January 8, 2022, according to the national travel portal Russia.travel.
This event traditionally attracts many residents and guests of Zelenogradsk - a resort in the Kaliningrad region.
As part of the celebration, a whole cultural and entertainment program is planned - a concert of creative teams, an extreme triathlon competition, an animation show with the participation of fairy-tale characters.
“The centerpiece of the program is taking out the Krantsev pie - a dessert stuffed with boiled condensed milk and peanuts,” notes Russia.travel.
The Day of Krantsev Pie in Zelenogradsk was celebrated for the first time in 2017. The weight of the delicacy was then 56 kg, and the length was 12 meters. Since then, the pie has grown in size every year.
The recipe for this traditional Prussian pastry is believed to have originated in the Middle Ages. Kranz in translation from German means "wreath", "crown" - this explains the shape of the pie in the form of a braided pigtail with different fillings.
It is no coincidence that Zelenogradsk celebrates the holiday of the pie - this city was called Krantz until 1946.
