Airbnb pledged to counteract prostitution during the Olympics

On the eve of the Olympic Games in Paris the global accommodation booking service Airbnb signed the convention on combating prostitution with the Interagency mission to protect women from violence and combat human trafficking (Miprof).

Airbnb is committed to supporting the efforts made by the authorities to curb the use of rented premises for sexual exploitation, the company said in a statement.

To this end, Airbnb and Miprof have developed a "guide for responsible travelers" to help tourists report any situations involving pimp activity in the building or area where they are staying.

Housing rented on Airbnb regularly finds itself in the spotlight of criminal gangs who prefer to rent inconspicuous housing to involve women in prostitution.
