As expected, the assembly of three of the five modules of the new station will be completed in the spring of 2023.

The new wintering complex will consist of five modules with a total area of about two thousand square meters. The length of the station under construction will be 140 meters, and its maximum height will be 17.5 meters. The modules will be installed on 36 3-meter supports, which will allow the station to remain uncovered by snow for many years.

Polar explorers will be able to live and work in the complex all year round even at extremely low temperatures. Vostok Station is considered the South Pole of Cold. It was here on July 21, 1983 that the lowest temperature on the surface of the Earth was recorded - minus 89.2 ° C.

The complex includes scientific laboratories, residential and public premises for polar explorers, energy centers and technical units for a water purification and storage system, as well as a garage. The station will have a modern medical unit with an operating room, a hyperbaric chamber, a dental and X-ray room, a wardroom with billiards and a cinema hall, a gym and a sauna. The wintering complex will be able to provide a comfortable stay and research activities for 35 seasonal specialists and up to 15 people during the wintering period. The construction is planned to be completed in 2025.

The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that by the end of 2023, the builders will have to install the subframe, insulate and install the outer skin, as well as start commissioning the heating and ventilation systems.

Polar explorers need to assemble three wintering modules and deliver all the necessary materials before the onset of the Antarctic winter in order to be able to continue internal commissioning during a period when access to the station will be limited.

In total, more than 2.5 thousand tons of cargo will be delivered to the East this season for the construction of a wintering complex, including construction materials and fuel.
