The press service of the Valdai National Park announced the opening of the "Big Valdai Trail" tourist route. Tourists are asked to be prepared for natural realities, including flooded and snow-covered sections.
The route was opened ahead of schedule due to numerous requests and a great desire of guests to visit it. It is usually open for visits from May to November. However, tourists were warned that firewood may be absent on remote sections of the trail. This is due to the difficulty of driving up equipment.
The length of the Big Valdai Trail is 59 km. This multi-day hiking route is unique. Travelers can see blue lakes, swamps, broadleaf forests, spruce-green moss forests, and rivers with beaver dams. The central part of the route passes through the specially protected zone of the national park.
There are five base camps for overnight stays on the trail, gazebos, tables, washbasins, toilets, fire pits and other infrastructure. The entire route is equipped with signs and marking poles that measure each kilometer of the path. There are emergency exits from the trail every 10 km, located near settlements.
