2020 will be the worst year for tourism in the past 70 years, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has warned, predicting a decline in the number of international tourists by 20-30%.
Europe is currently the area most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of about 84.000 deaths associated with coronavirus infection, about 59.000 were registered on the European continent, mainly in Italy, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.
According to UNWTO, 1.4 billion foreign tourists visited Europe in 2019, and 67 million Europeans traveled abroad.
