The European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations (ECTAA) has called for the reinstatement of the sustainable tourism support group in the European Parliament.
After five years of successful work, on assessment of the industry, the group ceased operations in May this year due to the expiration of powers of the European Parliament of the previous composition.
During the work, the members of the profile deputy group contributed to the simplification of visa procedures related to tourism, targeted protection of consumer rights and the development of sustainable tourism in general.
ECTAA, for its part, expects that its call to restore the activities of the group on sustainable tourism in the new composition of the European Parliament, which began work in July this year, will be supported by the new European Commissioner for the EU internal market Thierry Breton.
