The design of a building for the exposition of flora and fauna with the world's largest all-glass aquarium is being completed as part of the creation of the public space "Attraction" in Magnitogorsk (Chelyabinsk Region). This was reported by JSC "Mosinzhproekt" with reference to the CEO of the company Yuri Kravtsov.
“The building being created is unique in many respects. It will house two large expositions - "Underwater World" and "Jungle" with 2.5 thousand species of inhabitants of the underwater world and 30 thousand specimens of flora. Inside the building, visitors will be waiting for the world's largest all-glass aquarium made of acrylic glass, ”Kravtsov is quoted as saying in a message on the company’s website.
The depth of the aquarium will reach six meters, its area will be about 400 square meters. meters, and the volume of water is 1.2 million liters.
“One-piece glass of this size allows you to create a large viewing area, with the maximum effect of presence in the depths of the sea. At each turn of the exposition, visitors will discover new unique angles, allowing them to take a fresh look at the underwater space and its inhabitants. Special lighting of the aquarium is also provided for night excursions,” said Yuri Kravtsov.
In turn, the General Director of the Mosinzhproekt Institute, Rustam Cherkesov, said that the spatial and façade solutions of the designed building are a metaphor for an iceberg.
“The building consists of five cubes rotated at different angles. Each cube is a separate functional area, such as a lobby or exhibition space. Its facade is an alternation of lamellas made of aluminum and acrylic stone with translucent sections, ”Cherkesov’s words are quoted in the message.
The interior of the building for the exposition of flora and fauna will be made in a modern futuristic style, it is a continuation of the facade solution - with alternating lamellas and glazing.
The objects of the first stage of the public space "Attraction" were opened in the summer of 2022. These are, in particular, the central entrance group with a boulevard and landscaped park areas, an information center, a food mall, a playground and a roller park. In 2022, these objects were awarded two awards of the international architecture and design award "Golden Trezzini" Premio del Pubblico.
