The press service of the national park announced new data obtained with the help of the largest photo monitoring network in the country. The "Land of the Leopard" is home to the core of the population. In 2022, at least 120 leopards were recorded in Primorye. The results of new studies show that the population remains stable, and thanks to its growth, wild animals settle outside protected areas, returning to territories where they were exterminated in the last century.

“Specialists have processed more than a million camera trap images, including for the first time using artificial intelligence technologies. More than 11 thousand photos with leopards have been identified. Scientists have established a population size of 125, calculated only from the number of adults, and found that at least 13 were born in the last year kittens," the statement said.

The national park emphasized that leopards remain vulnerable. Therefore, to ensure the survival of these animals for many years to come, it is necessary to continue to make efforts to preserve their natural habitat, fight fires and poaching.
