The program of this international event is designed to popularize the national cuisines of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic zone, to develop gastronomic tourism and economy in this territory while carefully preserving the traditions of the North.
“For two days, an online culinary marathon of Arctic cuisine Arctic Cuisine will take place at the Taste of the Arctic festival site. Everyone will be able to watch the live broadcast on the websites of Russia's chairmanship of the Arctic Council, the Roscongress Foundation and the festival's community on VKontakte. Original dishes of northern cuisine will be prepared by experienced chefs from restaurants in nine Arctic regions of Russia and the member countries of the Arctic Council,” the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic said on its website.
Representatives of the Arctic countries, federal and regional authorities, ambassadors of the member countries of the Arctic Council, chefs from the best restaurants in the Arctic regions of Russia and abroad, as well as culinary experts, tour operators and restaurateurs will take part in the two-day business and gastronomic program.
The participants in the business program will discuss the preservation and development of the national cuisines of the peoples living in the Arctic zone, as well as ways to attract tourists to these regions.
“On the evening of December 10, as part of the business program, an immersive Arctic Gala gastronomic dinner will take place, during which you can watch the chefs prepare northern cuisine before serving. The organizers will also delight guests with an ethnic-style show program. The Yakut DJ duo Uraan, ethno performer Erkin Alekseev, singer and DJ Alena Minulina, as well as Khadri Okotetto, a performer of the Nenets epic from Yamal, will perform, ”the ministry said.
In addition, the Arctic Expo will be open for two days with multimedia iceberg stands revealing the peculiarities of the Arctic regions of Russia and the Arctic countries.
"The culmination of the second day of the festival will be a culinary duel in the Arctic cuisine Chef Versus ICE, during which famous Russian bloggers trained by experienced chefs of the Far North will show their abilities," the ministry said in a statement.
Also, viewers will be able to watch the broadcast of master classes of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the Arctic on cooking over an open fire and learn their recipes. And guests who will be present directly at the site will be lucky enough to taste the prepared dishes.
The festival is held on the initiative of Yakutia as part of Russia's chairmanship of the Arctic Council. Its site will be the old mansion Loft Hall in Moscow.
