The next year, 2022, is declared the Year of Ecology in Sochi

 «Sochi has unique natural resources with more than 80 percent of the city's territory is specially protected natural areas belonging to the Sochi National Park and the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve. Sochi is surrounded by the Black Sea and mountains; more than 60 rivers flow through the territory. There are over 100 unique natural tourist attractions here. To preserve all this and build an environmentally friendly future, 2022 has been declared the Year of the Environment,» said the head of the resort, Aleksey Kopaigorodsky.

The program of events for the Year of Ecology was developed by the Sochi administration together with the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, the Sochi National Park, the Sochi Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, mountain climatic resorts, scientific experts and the city's public. The priority directions, enclosed in the general ideology, were determined: “Green city. Clean sea. Clear sky. Fresh air. Environmental education ". In total, the program includes more than 100 events. So, in 2022, the green outfit of Sochi will be replenished with 50,000 trees and shrubs, 13 chestnut trees and boxwood will be restored on the territory of the Sochi National Park.
