The EU member states approved the inclusion of Canada, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Jordan, Montenegro, Qatar, Moldova, Saudi Arabia and Kosovo in the list of countries and territories whose citizens, even without being vaccinated against COVID-19, can be admitted to the EU.
Earlier, the United States, Lebanon, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Israel, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand, as well as China (on the terms of reciprocity) were added to the "green" list, which initially included 14 states.
At the same time, EU countries reserve the right to subject passengers arriving from these countries to testing for coronavirus and even send them to quarantine.
In May, the EU allowed vaccinated travelers from third countries to enter the community.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the EU closed its external borders in March 2020 and during the year compiled a regularly updated short list of third countries whose residents are allowed to visit Europe.
Countries can be included in the EU "green" list if less than 75 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants have been registered on their territory over the past 14 days.
