The meteor shower got its name from the constellation Perseus, which will appear from the northeastern horizon after sunset. It will be possible to observe it from 5 to 20 August, but it will reach its maximum on the night of 12 to 13 August.
"Under favorable weather conditions and the absence of urban illumination, starting from midnight and all night, it will be possible to observe up to 110 meteors per hour, or 1-2 meteors per minute. By August 8, the moon will pass the new moon phase and by the time the Perseids peak will interfere with observations, " said in the Moscow Planetarium.
According to experts, the speed of meteors will reach 60 kilometers per second, some of them will glow for up to several seconds.
