The aim of the project is the well-being of birds inhabiting the territory of the mountain resort, as well as the creation of conditions for tourists to learn more about their features. Caring for birds is on the resort’s environmental agenda, said the Rosa Khutor resort.

Within the framework of the new environmental project “Rosa Khutor”, it is planned to generalize long-term observations, make a description of the avifauna features of the resort and its environs, and assess the status of rare bird populations. According to the results of the research, ornithologists will give recommendations on ensuring the well-being of nesting, migrating and wintering birds in the resort, including the calculation of technical solutions and costs.

The Rosa Khutor resort noted that the results of scientific research would serve educational purposes. An extensive information booklet will be developed for guests and staff of the resort. It will combine information about the hundred most characteristic birds for the given area, popular science essays and cognitive tasks set out in an educational-game form. Ornithological information will also complement the info basis telling about the nature of the Krasnaya Polyana cluster. Excursions devoted to birds will be included in the program of fascinating natural science, which is usually held every summer by the Children's Mountain Academy of the resort.

Birds are one of the most numerous classes of animals that inhabit the Caucasian Black Sea coast. Of the 789 species that nest or come during migration in Russia, more than 340 can be observed in the Krasnodar Territory, and more than 200 in the mountains of the Mzymta Valley. In spring and autumn, seasonal migrations take place, which impress by both species composition and the number of birds.
