Serbia did not have time to get rid of one misfortune, as another immediately appeared. After unprecedented rains that brought floods, snakes filled the local cities and villages. Reports of encounters with reptiles come from all over the country. In the city of Novi Pazar, snakes crawl right along the main street, and one of them hung on a tree, frightening passers-by. In the capital Belgrade, reptiles have been spotted on sidewalks, in underpasses and on treadmills, and two long vipers mated right on the pavement at a bus stop. Serbs are in a panic. If snakes began to appear in the most crowded places, what is happening in parks and squares?

In the Moravian region, poisonous reptiles have been spotted in courtyards, porches and even indoors: one housewife found a snake right in her own pantry - an uninvited guest settled in a saucepan. Cases of reptiles crawling into baby strollers and cribs have been recorded. Serpentologists explain this by saying that snakes are attracted to the smell of milk.

But what could attract a python to the sports ground is beyond explanation. A children's team was training on the football field of the Sever stadium when a large python was spotted in the stands. Fortunately, the seventy-year-old spectator, who was watching the game of his beloved grandson, was not taken aback: he grabbed the snake with his bare hands. At the same time, the python wrapped itself around the man’s arm and squeezed it tightly. Other spectators arrived to help, and the snake was imprisoned in a nearby dumpster. Rescuers arrived on call and took the python to the zoo.

The snake-catchers attribute this unusual behavior of the reptiles to the flooding of their habitats. One can hope that the coming hot weather will drive the snakes away from the hot asphalt and the residents of Serbian cities will breathe a sigh of relief.
