A rich festive program was prepared for the townspeople and guests of Nizhny Novgorod, which was awarded the status of "New Year's Capital of Russia 2022".
Thus, a large street skating rink will open on December 24 with a Christmas gala concert with the participation of the winners of the Olympic Games, European and world champions, and the stars of the Ice Age project. The main director of the ice show is Ilya Averbukh.
As reported on the website of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod, the renewed Gorky Square will be the flagship location for the celebrations.
The main Christmas tree will be installed there, and at its base the "Gorkovskaya Yarmarka - 800" will unfold, which will be open from December 25 to January 7.
“The New Year's capital is impossible without the visit of the country's chief Santa Claus, who arrives to us from Veliky Ustyug in a balloon. Santa Claus will attend a number of festive events in the New Year's capital. The residence of Father Frost is a separate pavilion on the Fair Square with a special daily children's program, ”the website says.
Five installations will be installed on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, and street theaters will also operate there.
In the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin there will be festive lighting, projections on the Dmitrievskaya tower and Nikolskaya (internal facade) and a mapping show.
“Several interactive screen zones with the participation of actors and light installations will be created on the territory of the Kremlin. Decorations will immerse you in an atmosphere of miracles, ”the event organizers say.
On New Year's Eve, performances by musicians, interactive shows, master classes and animation programs, theatrical performances, and the culmination of a festive fireworks are planned at the Fair Square.
For the first time in Nizhny Novgorod, the most popular ice show by Ilya Averbukh, The Nutcracker, will be presented at the Trud stadium in Nizhny Novgorod from 2 to 8 January.
And on January 9, residents and guests of the city will see an impressive show by Tatiana Navka “Sleeping Beauty. Legend of the Two Kingdoms ". On the same day, the ceremony of handing over the title of "New Year's Capital of Russia - 2023" to Novosibirsk will take place.
"New Year's Capital" is a project of the Russian Ministry of Culture aimed at developing domestic tourism. The first New Year's capital was chosen in 2012 - Kazan became it. In 2021, Nizhny Novgorod received the status of the New Year's capital.
