Russia's Classified Ski Slopes Have Grown Fivefold

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development has reported that 540 ski slopes in the country have already undergone voluntary classification. While this procedure is not mandatory, it ultimately makes it easier for tourists to choose the appropriate level of difficulty.

Today, a third of all operating ski slopes in Russia have been classified. Since 2020, their total length has increased fivefold, exceeding 500 km. The leaders in classification among the regions are Krasnodar Krai, Kemerovo Oblast, and the Altai Republic.

During the classification process, a special accredited organization determines the difficulty level of the slope and assigns it a corresponding category. For example, beginners in skiing can ride on a "green" slope, while a "black" slope is only accessible to very experienced skiers and snowboarders.
