The press service of the Land of the Leopard National Park reported that Russia and China intend to strengthen cooperation for the benefit of rare animals.

The parties are working on the creation of the world's first transboundary protected area for Far Eastern leopards and tigers - the Land of Big Cats reserve. It will include the territories of the Land of the Leopard National Park and the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve of Russia, as well as the Northeast National Tiger and Leopard Park of China.

Recently, a Far Eastern leopard was spotted near the border with China. The unique shots with the predator-traveler were made by the employees of the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Primorsky Territory during a flight around the state border. They handed over the material to scientists, thanks to which they managed to identify the spotted hero of the record.

Analysis of the pattern on the skin of a leopard showed a predator numbered Leo 253M. The young male was recently entered into the database of scientists; earlier it was recorded by camera traps only a few times.

“The employees of the Land of the Leopard received additional information about the animal thanks to close cooperation with colleagues from China. It turned out that Leo 253M is also recorded by the photo monitoring network in China's Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park, adjacent to the "Land of the Leopard". The wild animal freely crosses the border, its habitat covers the territories of two countries at once,” the national park said.

In the video, the predator looks healthy, obviously not experiencing problems with hunting. Filming in the snow-covered forest was conducted for several minutes from a safe distance without disturbing the leopard.
