On the territory of the Russian Arctic National Park, scientists from the  Severtsov Russian Academy of Sciences began to survey bear dens and establish satellite tracking tags for female bears.

Monitoring takes place at the Omega field station of the Alexandra Land island of the Franz Josef Land archipelago.

“The work of long-standing partners of the national park and the zoologists of the Institute is aimed this season at continuing monitoring of the Barents Sea polar bear populations and identifying the current state of animals by taking biochemical analyzes and tagging specific individuals,” said Alexander Kirilov, director of the Russian Arctic National Park.

The work of scientists in the Arctic is now being watched by the film crew of the national park, which is making the documentary "Bear's Corner". The protagonists of the documentary, supported by the Russian Geographical Society, were a group of biologists led by a senior researcher at the Institute of Ecology and Evolution.

The film will be presented in June.
