Fishermen from the elite Belgrade region of Zemun were shocked by the attack of a flock of perches. During ordinary fishing in a small backwater on the Danube, the water there suddenly boiled from the invasion of fish. The perches did not just float near the surface: as if they had gone crazy, they jumped out of the river, flying up to a height of half a meter.
Flying perches collided with each other, fell into the boats of the Belgrade people, slapped the dumbfounded people on the hands and faces. Judging by their size and coloration, they were largemouth or black perches.
Experienced fishermen have encountered similar perch behavior before. But such a violent flock is a rather rare occurrence. It can be explained by the attack of predators or the migration. However, in the Zemun region, the noise pollution of the area could be the reason for such outrageousness: in summer, picnics on rafts with loud laughter and incendiary music are popular here. Maybe the perches just started dancing.
