This year alone, as part of this all-Russian campaign, 70 million trees have been planted throughout the country, said Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Sergei Anoprienko.
“In three years, we have planted more than 150 million trees together. We started with 20-30 million in the first years, and this year 70 million trees were planted in almost all constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” Anoprienko said at a press conference dedicated to the results of the III All-Russian reforestation campaign “Save the Forest” in 2021.
He noted that all regions distinguished themselves, however, he announced the five leaders - Belgorod, Leningrad, Tyumen, Nizhny Novgorod regions and Altai Territory.
“We did it brilliantly. This suggests that residents and leaders of these regions are paying the most active, most reverent attention to our national wealth - the forest,” said the Deputy Minister.
According to Anoprienko, following the action in the Tula region, on the initiative of the regional leadership, more than 7 thousand oaks were planted on the Kulikovo field.
Quite a lot of trees were planted on Valaam in Karelia, and in Tatarstan, on the territory of the City Clinical Hospital, more than 300 spruces appeared in honor of doctors who are fighting the pandemic, Anoprienko said.
As Olga Stepchenko, head of the Garden of Memory ANO, said at a press conference, this year the “Save the Forest” campaign started in August in Yakutia, where the forests were badly damaged by fires, and ended at the end of November in Crimea. More than 1 million people took part in it, despite the pandemic.
According to Anoprienko, the campaign “Save the Forest” was supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, Rosleskhoz, volunteers of the youth wing of the All-Russian Popular Front, the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation, ANO “National Priorities”.
