"The main goal of the forum is to present the results of territorial protection, the study of populations, biological communities, and ecosystems over 100 years using the example of one of the oldest specially protected natural territories in our country - the Caucasus Reserve, established in 1924 to preserve the bison. In addition, other issues relevant to specially protected natural territories of our country will be considered," the department quotes the director of the Caucasus Reserve, Sergey Shevelev.
The business program includes a plenary session, work in sections on various topics, and discussions on "New Technologies in Nature Conservation," "Biodiversity and Business," and "Ecotourism as a Tool for Environmental Education."
One of the key events will be a round table on "The Results of Studying Abiotic and Biotic Components of Natural Complexes of Protected Natural Territories."
"Participants of the event will discuss the results of research and problems of preserving natural complexes in protected areas of our country, the reaction of biota to global environmental changes and the development of tourism, and propose measures to minimize the consequences of anthropogenic impact on natural complexes," the message quotes the words of Olga Pegova, Deputy Director for Development of the Caucasus Reserve.
Guests of the forum will also enjoy lectures and master classes dedicated to the Black Sea Day, watch films about the history and nature conservation activities of protected natural areas, take excursions to the Sirius University and the Southern Cultures Arboretum, and get acquainted with the territory of the reserve.
A collection of scientific articles will be published following the event.
As noted in the message, the Caucasus Reserve is one of the largest mountain-forest natural reserves in Europe, with an area of almost 300 thousand hectares, with a unique history and flora preserved since the pre-glacial period, and a rich animal world.
The natural territory is located in three regions - Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea, and Karachaevo-Cherkessia - and is known worldwide for its programs to restore the population of rare species, primarily the Persian leopard and the Caucasian bison.
