The Center for Strategic Research, in collaboration with the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), has compiled a forecast for the growth of mutual tourist flow between Russia and Iran in 2024. According to estimates, it could exceed 60,000 people.

In 2023, Russia was visited by more than 29,500 guests from Iran. In turn, more than 10,700 Russians traveled to Iran. About 70% of Iranian tourists visit Russia for sightseeing purposes, 25% are entrepreneurs who combine business trips with tours around the country, and 5% prefer adventure tourism.

Currently, both countries are working together to increase tourist flow. To this end, the visa regime for tourists is being simplified, the geography of air flights is planned to be expanded, and the number of package tours is growing.

"Very soon, 16 package tours will be launched in the North Caucasus for travelers from Iran. Taking into account their wishes, programs of educational, health, religious tourism and active recreation at ski resorts have been developed," - the message says.

At present, the launch of flights to Iran from St. Petersburg and Kazan is being worked out. Direct air traffic between Moscow and Tehran has already been established.

The increase in tourist flow from Iran is facilitated by the system of group visa-free trips to Russia. Iranian tourists are actively using this opportunity. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, by the end of the year, the mutual tourist flow with Iran within the framework of the group visa-free mechanism will be about 40,000 tourists.
