Most people in Belgium buy an excessive amount of food for Christmas and are not even able to eat them for the holidays. As EcoTourismExpert has learned, these are the data of one of the pre-Christmas consumer surveys conducted in the country. According to statistics, 80 percent of Belgians do so.
It is noteworthy that at least half of the inhabitants of the Kingdom experience stress from Christmas shopping: they are irritated by standing in line at the checkout (68 percent), other buyers (63 percent), the absence of a sold-out product (50 percent).
One in five Belgians believe that there are too few sellers in stores, another 13 percent of respondents are dissatisfied with the impatience or bad mood of the staff, and 35 percent generally prefer to trust purchases for the Christmas table to their loved ones. At the same time, 75 percent of respondents intend to surprise guests with their own dishes.
According to the company Deloitte, this year the average Belgian family will spend on gifts and products for Christmas 488 euros - 3.7 percent less than a year earlier. Meanwhile, only 21 percent of respondents intend to make purchases on the Internet.
As Christmas gifts Belgians traditionally prefer to give cash, perfumes and cosmetics, books, chocolate products and alcoholic beverages.
