The northern capital has become the most popular railway destination among travelers from Moscow during the winter holidays. So, for a trip between the two cities, every tenth ticket is issued, according to the national travel portal Russia.travel.
The average cost of a train ticket is 2,424 rubles one way.
In second place is Kazan: a trip to the capital of Tatarstan from Moscow will cost on average 2,991 rubles, the portal notes.
In third place is Nizhny Novgorod (tickets from 1,379 rubles).
“Also, the top 10 most popular internal railway directions for the New Year included routes from the capital to Petrozavodsk, Saratov, Kotlas, Bryansk, Rostov-on-Don, Yaroslavl and Belgorod. Most of the tickets were bought by travelers on December 29 and 30,” Russia.travel reports.
