Russia and Azerbaijan have established a joint working group to address the issue of the Caspian Sea's decreasing water level.

The group consists of representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, as well as research institutes from both countries. They will be tasked with studying the problem. This was reported on the website of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources.

"Experts will develop an action plan that is planned to include measures such as studying the causes of changes in the level of the Caspian Sea, short-term and long-term forecasts, adaptation strategies, monitoring fluctuations in water levels, joint scientific research, and other steps aimed at reducing the negative impact on coastal areas," the report says.

The co-chairs of the working group are Sergey Anoprienko, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, and Rauf Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.
