The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia has announced via its Telegram channel that, starting from October 1, it will only be selling named tickets. To purchase a ticket, one must present a valid ID. The ticket will contain the buyer's personal information. When purchasing online at bolshoi.ru, the buyer will need to input their personal details.
"Named tickets grant admission to the theatre only upon presentation of a valid ID. The identity of the ticket holder will be verified. If the information on the ticket does not match the ID presented, the theatre will deny entry," the statement reads.
The theatre has noted that these changes are necessary to prevent ticket scalping.
"We ask that you understand these new measures. Please purchase tickets only at our box office or on the Bolshoi Theatre website," the statement continues.
The Bolshoi has also warned that purchasing tickets from unauthorized sources or individuals may result in acquiring counterfeit tickets.
"A counterfeit ticket will not grant admission to the theatre. The theatre is not responsible for the authenticity of tickets purchased from third parties or in places other than our official points of sale (Bolshoi Theatre box office and bolshoi.ru)," the statement emphasizes.
