Russian airlines plan to launch 246 connecting flights abroad with a connection in Sochi. This will be the next step in the development of a transport hub at the resort, which Rossiya Airlines launched in early April. Its flights abroad on Superjet will connect with flights of other airlines from the regions. Ticket sales are already open on the websites of online agents and are available from Russian aggregators. Negotiations are underway with the management company of Sochi Airport to open sales on the airport's website.
So far, Nordwind, Ural Airlines, Izhavia, Utair, Azimut, Nordstar, Yamal and Red Wings have joined the project.
«The agreement was signed by 24 carriers. They will operate flights from 34 Russian cities, including Barnaul, Vladikavkaz, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Kazan, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Magnitogorsk, Minvod, Norilsk, Salekhard and others,» the Transport Clearing House (TCH) reports.
More than half of new flights to Sochi will be operated by Nordwind (52%), Utair (16%) and Azimuth (15%) will account for a large share. Through tickets can be cheaper than if a passenger buys two separate tickets for two flight segments. In case of loss of connection - flight cancellation or late passenger - within the framework of a single transportation, this risk is assumed by the ticket sales agent, and not by the passenger.
